Become a member
Becoming a member of REAL means becoming part of a dynamic network of researchers and educators within retail and logistics.
Membership is open for you who:
- Is employed at Lund University, or enrolled in third-cycle education (industrial PhD).
- Is engaged in research, education, or innovation that represents and develops the Retail or Logistics field.
Membership is granted by the REAL management team based on the criteria above and is indefinite. It can however be terminated at any time by the member themself or the REAL management team.

Membership benefits
As a member of REAL, you gain access to a collaborative and interdisciplinary academic environment, with benefits that include:
- Strategic development participation: Members are invited to actively contribute to the development of REAL’s strategic and operational plans, shaping the centre's impact.
- Engagement in key activities: Members have the right to participate in any of the three pillars - research, education, and innovation - contributing to their growth and success.
- Leadership in activities: Members can propose, initiate, and lead activities in research, education, and innovation, with potential support from REAL in terms of funding and administration.
- Access to events: Invitations to actively participate in all REAL activities, including research talks, seminars, workshops, bootcamps, and retreats.
- Excellence scholarships: Members who publish in selected top-tier journals are eligible to receive excellence scholarships, recognising and rewarding their outstanding contributions to the field.
- Projects: Members can participate in and place projects at REAL, benefiting from its infrastructure, network, and resources.
- Access to infrastructure and industry network: Members have access to REAL’s network of professionals and partner firms, as well as infrastructure such as HBG Student Lab and databases.
- Access to REAL office: Office space is available for members to use as needed.
- Affiliation with REAL: Members have the right to use REAL as their academic affiliation in publications, project proposals, and external communications.
Membership responsibilities
- Expected to participate actively in at least one pillar: research, education, or innovation.
- Expected to attend REAL activities regularly (approximately once a month), in person when appropriate.
- Expected to use REAL affiliation in all activates and outputs (e.g., articles, presentations) that are produced in the context of REAL or draw upon REAL projects, network, or infrastructure.
- Expected to collegially support communication activities.
- Required to report all research output, projects, and activities in the Lund University Research Portal
